This lovely mama was a reluctant win for a maternity shoot. I offer them free with my newborn sessions, because I know that most women feel like this, especially when it’s not their first pregnancy. They tell me that they don’t feel beautiful, they are too tired to get ready, and they think the session will go badly. She wore her own deep red dress for the family portraits, and then I told her to bring just a white tank and some jeans and I would provide something for her individuals. I had just invested in a beautiful lace kimono that I thought would look lovely in the sunset. When I posted some images just a few hours later, she was amazed with the outcome: “I love the one in the shawl looking at my belly. Doesn’t look lumpy and bumpy like I feel! And the family one is completely adorable. Sam’s smile looks so natural which is so difficult to capture!!! Seriously I am in love with the belly looking photo. I am in awe knowing how I was feeling that none of that is captured. You have some kind of magic. You’re so good at this!”
This is why I love my job. I want to convince these lovely women that they are as beautiful as their friends and loved ones can see that they are. They should know that they are glowing. So I show them.
