My kids are very close to their grandparents. Grandma and Grandpa have been there from day one, helping us out just after birth, and they return tirelessly and without reservation to help do the hard things. They have potty trained and cleaned microwaves, watched cartoons and read beloved books over and over again. They have prepared meals and done laundry for these kids. They are mindful of limits and uphold good behavior. Mostly, they play and play and play with them. It’s amazing. I never want my kids to forget what this felt like. To be so loved and cherished for who they really are. It is a divine gift that not everyone receives.

Have you ever thought about what your children will remember of the times that their grandparents spent with them? Not just the fantastic time they took them to Disneyland, but the times they made cookies with them or read them stories or came to take care of the family when you all were sick? I love that someday my kids will have beautiful portraits in frames around them from year after year, of their grandparents holding them tight.
